We Made It!

Updated: Mar 31, 2023

I had hopes of fully launching this site in December, however, life happened. December through March have brought an insane amount of family travel across state lines and if I'm being frank, I didn't really feel like writing through a lot of what we experienced. We spent so much time on the road with all five kiddos and a giant poodle who isn't even one yet, that when I had down time, I spent it making more travel plans, catching up on laundry and home chores and school work for myself and 4 of the kiddos.

I went remote for my schooling and that has proved quite a task to complete! I'm so thankful for a flexible program though. In all honesty, in person learning when so much demands your attention and time is the way to go if you can make it work.

So I know what you're thinking, "wasn't the point of you moving to GO to school?"... Well yes. It was. However, about midway through year two, my husbands work schedule went haywire and couldn't withstand him being the primary care giver to our kiddos anymore during class hours and a nanny 3 days a week for 5 kids just wasn't in the budget. So, I'm home. In addition to work changes, we also had several health issues pop up with our oldest and youngest kiddos and my being home became necessary again. Thus, here I am. Everyone is doing much better though and the regained sense of normalcy and consistency has been refreshing and much missed aspect of our home life since the big move.

Oh and one more big and super unexpected announcement... we are expecting again! Baby #6 will be here with us at some time towards the end of August. Talk about a whirlwind of emotions and having to process!! It's been a learning curve for sure and had us really expressing gratitude for all the family help we received for appointments and new baby helps back home. But this will be another adventure and I know the Lord has incredible plans for this life also, so we are more than thrilled and excited to bring this baby home and watch them grow into all God has called for them to be.

We are about a hair's width close to being caught up on the kids schooling again. Like I said. between Christmas to now, we've made about nine trips to the sunshine state for work and family related affairs and I'm about ready to burn the suit cases! We are going to be depending heavily on online schooling for the kids this coming school year so we are in the process of not only catching up but also integrating new learning techniques so we can have all the kinks worked out before baby's arrival. We are hoping this will help alleviate some of the stress off me during the first few weeks of adjusting to a family of 8. We still plan to use a significant portion of My Father's World, especially with the littles, but will be doing more online with Easy Peesy.

We also planted a pretty large box garden. Lord willing, hub's green thumb will spread to the kids and I and we will be harvesting roughly 20 different veggies and leafy green varieties. I'm trying to convince him to grow peaches in containers as well and some blueberries... buuuuut we will see.

I also invested in a couple new kitchen gadgets. aka: the air fryer. I'm sold on a few different recipe modifications we have found that I am excited to begin sharing soon. The snow days we got this year had all the baking feels hitting something fierce this past winter. The cold also allowed for some quiet inside days packed with reading so I have several new books I look forward to sharing with you all soon! I'll go on and tell you though, its a pretty impactful list so be prepared to be challenged in your thinking.

For now, we are looking forward to getting outside in this incredible weather we've been having. We have compiled a huge list of hikes and trails and creeks we look forward to visiting soon and are excited to share those as well. Honestly, before moving here, we really had no idea how beautiful the landscape was in northern Alabama. As crazy as it sounds, I highly recommend visiting this area and doing the city and natural sides of all the things to do. You really won't regret it.

So there we have it for now. This has been my official launch/catch up post. Y'all have a good day now!
